GARDEN PHOTOS TAKEN OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, RHODODENDRONS, PRIMULAS, HYDRANGEAS AND FRIENDS
by Gay Klok in the garden of "Kibbenjelok"
These photographs are taken in the flower gardens and show my favorite areas and flowers
Rhododendrons flourish in the moist atmosphere and acid soil in the "Old Apple Orchard". This garden was begun in 1988 and was an original apple orchard. The fruit trees marched up the area in long lines, like soldiers marching in formation
The Hydrangeas also enjoy the moist atmosphere, in the same "Orchard garden"
Close-up of one of my favorite Rhododendrons "Nuttallii" that not only has beautiful trumpet flowers but a heavenly perfume too
We have built grass and brown gravel paths to make the strolling around the garden easy for our many visitors
Also a favourite of mine Rhododendron "Cis" in the second rhododendron garden
Primulas, Rowans, Manferns and Hydrangeas give me enormous pleasure every Spring
The red and pink Hymalayan Primulas romp in the damp conditions on the border of a rhododendron bed
Japanese maples, American hybrid Rhododendrons, Gunneras and Birch trees in the "top" Rhododendron garden
But I really love the delicate blooms of specie Rhododendrons
And show me a white flower with perfume and I will swoon!!!!
And I enjoy the various shades of pink and orange too
Looking up the Primula and Rhododendron border to the top of the Orchard garden
The ever present peafowl keep vigil in the garden
